AMA Land Speed Grand Championship Set For August

Iconic Bonneville Salt Flats Venue To Host Event

The AMA/FIM Land Speed Grand Championship will return to the white, crystalline surface of the world-famous Bonneville Salt Flats near Wendover, Utah, Aug. 25-30.

The event is also known as the Bonneville Speed Trials and is sanctioned by both the AMA and the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme. The AMA is the FIM National Federation for the United States.

Land speed racing is all about top speed, and this event features American and international amateur land-speed competitors racing to win an AMA No. 1 plate, as well as etch their names into FIM world record books.

As with most AMA amateur national championships, this event includes multiple classes to provide ample opportunities for amateur racers to compete. Both displacement- and bike-configuration classes are featured, including high-powered custom-built streamliners made for the sole purpose of topping 300 mph.

The event is organized and promoted by Deliciate Promotions. The Bonneville Speedway typically consists of a 5-mile course and an 8-mile course, depending on conditions.
