Veterans Get Free Access to National Lands
Gold Star Families Also Included
Beginning on Veterans Day in November, Gold Star families and U.S. military veterans were granted free, lifetime access to more than 2,000 federal recreation areas, including national parks, wildlife refuges and forests.
The free access program is a way to thank America’s veterans and Gold Star families and to encourage them to explore recreational opportunities on their public lands and waters, the National Park Service stated in a press release.
Agencies participating in the program are the Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. Forest Service and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
