Lawsuit Seeks Glen Canyon ATV Ban
Group Claims Vehicles Damage Terrain
The National Parks Conservation Association has sued the U.S. Interior Department to halt the agency’s plan to allow ATVs in the Glen Canyon Recreation Area in Utah.
The lawsuit claims ATVs would damage land, increase noise and could enter the nearby Canyonlands National Park, unless enforcement is strict.
The Interior Department produced an environmental impact statement in 2017, but the conclusions about ATV use were not definitive, the conservation group says.
The case is in federal court in Washington, D.C.
