AMA Board Election
South Central Region Board Seat Contested
Three candidate applications for two seats on the AMA Board of Directors have been approved by the board’s Nominating Committee.
In the Southeast Region, Board Member Ken Ford is running unopposed.
In the South Central Region, incumbent Tony Moseley is being challenged by Nancy Broen.
The AMA Board includes 12 directors—six elected by individual members, four elected by business members and two at-large directors appointed by the board and ratified by individual members.
The online election begins Dec. 15. Voting ends at 11:59 p.m. on Jan. 15, after which tabulation and verification of the results will begin.
Members eligible to vote with a valid email on file with the AMA will receive an email with voting instructions, including a log-in and password, on Dec. 15.
Members who do not have an email on file, can add one by calling (800) 262-5646 or by emailing AMA Member Services at [email protected]. Make sure you have your AMA number when you call or include it in the email.
Members who are unable to provide an email can call (800) 262-5646 for electronic voting instructions beginning on Dec. 15.
South Central Region Candidates
The following candidates’ applications have been approved by the AMA Board Nominating Committee to run for the South Central Region.
These candidate summaries are based on the candidates’ submitted applications.
Tony Moseley (Incumbent)
Tony Moseley, of Fort Worth, Texas, has served on the AMA Board of Directors for three years. He is retired from Kawasaki Motors Corp. U.S.A.
His management experience includes 30 years as district and regional manager for Kawasaki, 10 years operating a Bonanza International franchise and four years managing an insurance office for United American.
Moseley said “member apathy” is the most pressing concern related to the AMA, and “lack of membership” is the most important issue facing the South Central Region.
He has been riding motorcycles for 49 years and enjoys all types of riding. He owns 37 bikes and says they all “are my favorites.”
The ride he would recommend to someone is “The one we can do today.”
“I made motorcycling my source of living due to my interest as an enthusiast,” Moseley said.
Nancy Broen
Nancy Broen, of Georgetown, Texas, is retired from SC Johnson & Son Inc. She previously worked at Harley-Davidson Motor Co., Dynamic Research Inc. and Ford Motor Co. At Dynamic Research, she served on the Board of Directors.
Broen holds bachelor’s degrees in communications from the University of Michigan and mechanical engineering from the University of Michigan-Dearborn. She also holds a master’s degree in human factors from the University of Southern California School of Safety and Systems Management.
She said that she became interested in a position on the AMA Board of Directors after reading a letter from AMA President and CEO Rob Dingman calling for members to step up.
“I have been looking for a focus in my retirement, as I feel like I need to be a positive force where I have passion and there is a need,” Broen said. “When I read this, I felt a pull. I can do this. I can help make a difference. I have a lot to offer and I want to share it. I have experience. I have intelligence. I have passion. I am rational and analytical. I am open to perspectives. I would be a positive addition to the AMA Board of Directors.”
She said the most pressing concerns that are facing the AMA are:
- The proposed 100 percent tariff on 51cc to 500cc motorcycles imported from the European Union; and
- The co-existence of recreational vehicle access to public lands and protection of those lands for future generations.
Her professional experience has provided her with knowledge and skills that would benefit the AMA, she said.
“I am a problem solver and action-oriented,” Broen said. “I have experienced motorcycling as a female rider and in varied venues. I have worked with world experts in research, manufacturing, and testing. I am passionate about the sport. I am fair and honest. I have time to give the AMA.”
Broen, who moved to the South Central Region three years ago, has been riding for 22 years and likes touring.
“I have a 2000 Triumph Legend TT 900 that I have owned since it was new, and a 2003 BMW K1200RS that I bought two years ago,” she said. “I love them both.”
