Hare Scramble
Olivera wins inaugural East vs. West event
Dante Olivera was the fastest rider at the inaugural West Hare Scramble Championship East vs. West event Oct. 6. The KTM rider took the overall win by 25 seconds over second-place finisher Devan Bolin. Third place went to Beta rider Kyle McDonal. Championship points leader Trystan Hart was unable to compete in the event, and championship contender Max Gerston took advantage of Hart’s absence. Despite shattering one of his fingers four weeks before the event, Gerston scored a sixth-place finish to cut Hart’s lead to 20 points with one round to go in the 2018 season.

Baylor brothers top Muddobbers National Enduro
It was a battle of brothers at the 2018 Muddobbers National Enduro on Sept. 23. NE Pro1 Class Championship leader and KTM rider Steward Baylor Jr. was beaten by his brother Grant Baylor, who won four of the event’s six tests on his way to his third win of the 2018 season. Husqvarna rider Thad Duvall rounded out the overall podium. While Grant won the battle at the Matthews, Ind., event, his brother Steward maintained his position at the top of the championship standings. He leads Duvall be 20 points heading into the final event of the series’ 2018 season at Perry Mountain M/C on Nov. 4.
Grand National Cross Country
Duvall tops inaugural Mason-Dixon GNCC
The Grand National Cross Country was raced at the Matthews Farm property in Mount Morris, Pa., Sept. 30 for the first time since 2003, and Husqvarna rider Thad Duvall was the big winner at the event. Duvall was unfazed in the early part of the race when GNCC XC1 Class Championship leader Kailub Russell was running close behind him. Duvall passed KTM rider Steward Baylor Jr. on Lap 4 to take the lead for good and Russell faded to a fourth-place finish on his KTM, while Husqvarna rider Josh Strang rounded out the XC1 podium. With the win, Duvall trails Russell by 40 points with two rounds remaining in the 2018 season.
