AMERICAN MOTORCYCLIST JANUARY 2019

Winter reading list

Classic Bikes, A Racing Legend, The Meaning Of Life

Here are four books to keep your mind on motorcycles through this less-than-peak-riding season for much of the U.S.

The Harley-Davidson Motor Co., Archive Collection: 416 pages of Harleys, from serial No. 1, built in 1903, through the 2015 Street model. Written by Randy Leffingwell and Darwin Holmstrom. Hardcover, $40.

Triumph: The Art of the Motorcycle, The Definitive Story of the Finest Motorcycles Ever Made: 237 pages that cover 130 years of Triumph motorcycles, with a foreword by Triumph CEO Nick Bloor. Detailed technical information and sketches are interspersed with photos. Written by Zef Enault and Michael Levivier. Hardcover, $50.

Valentino Rossi, Life of a Legend: A 189-page book tracing Rossi’s racing career from mini-motos through world titles. Written by Michael Scott. Hardcover, $35.

The Meaning of Life, According to Bikers: The Biker Book for Charity: 173 pages filled with famous and not-so-famous motorcyclists—including AMA Charter Life Member Perry King and AMA Motorcycle Hall of Famer Cris Sommer-Simmons—offering their takes on the meaning of life. Editor Louise Lewis created the book to raise money for the motorcycling community’s charitable events and causes and to counteract some of the negative stereotypes about motorcyclists.

Hardcover, $24.99.
