Companies Deploying More Autonomous Vehicles

 

Ford will deploy autonomous vehicles in six markets, offering commercial service in three, by 2021, according to media reports.

Ford test vehicles were to begin mapping Austin, Texas, streets in November, following the company’s pattern in Miami and Washington, D.C.

Meanwhile, reports say GM Cruise aims to launch robotaxis in San Francisco, but said in July it would not meet its aggressive 2019 deployment target.

Waymo’s commercial ride-hailing service, Waymo One, is operating in metro Phoenix with backup drivers, and Waymo is doing weather testing in more than 25 cities.

Uber, now testing only in Pittsburgh, plans to gather mapping data in Dallas soon.

Lyft partnered with Aptiv on an AV shuttle pilot in Las Vegas.

And Voyage is piloting its ride-hailing shuttles in The Villages, a retirement community north of  Orlando, Fla.
