AMERICAN MOTORCYCLIST December 2019
Bringing Peach State riders together
Sinha To Build Community, Collaboration
Kevin “Truth” Sinha has about 10 years of riding experience, but in that time he has quickly advanced from newbie to long-distance rider to advocate.
The 34-year-old, of Brookhaven, Ga., has been named the state coordinator for the AMA Georgia State Chapter.
Volunteer State Chapter coordinators are AMA members who have completed AMA EAGLES training. They work with AMA clubs and individuals to determine their common goals and interests. Then, the coordinator works with AMA members to determine the best way those interests can be served by the AMA.
Sinha has been an AMA member for three years and said he got involved with the AMA EAGLES program to learn more about how the AMA supports and advocates for the motorcycling lifestyle. His knowledge of the AMA’s history and leadership on issues affecting riders has been a positive influence during his development as a motorcyclist.
“I rode coast to coast a couple of years back, and the most incredible part was meeting riders along the way and at rallies like Sturgis and Ocean City [Md.],” he said. “Many folks said they were AMA members, and I quickly found that membership was a great way to be connected to the broader motorcycling community.”
Sinha said his first projects in the state coordinator role will be to build a sense of community among Georgia motorcyclists to improve their standing with state policy makers and government officials. Sinha works professionally as a community organizer and hopes to use that experience to make Georgia motorcyclists a strong force for advocacy.
Some of the issues he plans to address are road safety and access to public lands for off-road riding and competition.
Sinha started riding in his 20s and credits trips to visit extended family in India, many of whom rode motorcycles, for getting him into riding.
“Spending time with them on their motorcycles is one of my favorite childhood memories,” he said. “An easy opportunity to buy my first bike came up when my brother Kunal started a business reselling motorcycles and scooters, and I haven’t looked back since.”
Sinha owns a Zero S, likes medium- and long-distance riding and has tried his hand at off-road riding a few times. His favorite roads to ride, though, aren’t too far from home for him.
“North Georgia is by far one of my favorite riding areas in the country,” he said. “Six Gap and other thrilling mountain runs are there. There’s fresh air and peaceful roads, which helps me feel even more connected to the ride.”
