Pinelands Group Runs Forest Enduros

New Jersey trail riders got some positive news from Pinelands officials.

New Jersey’s Pinelands Commission has approved a map designating the Wharton State Forest roads as suitable for recreational use by motorized vehicles.

All motorized vehicles using forest roads must be street legal and registered. ATVs and dirt bikes are not allowed.

The commission’s report included language in the resolution requested by the East Coast Enduro Association that exempts special use permits from the approved map.

ECEA member clubs organize off-highway motorcycle events in Wharton State Forest and worked to get the exemption included to ensure that their ability to hold enduros and dual sport rides covered by these special-use permits was not negatively impacted.

The commission’s decision is under review by the state Department of Environmental Protection.
