Two AMA staff members attended the National Association of State Motorcycle Safety Administrators national training summit in Burlington, Vt., in September.

Western States Representative Nick Haris and Mike Sayre, government relations manager for on-highway issues, took the opportunity to share AMA views on issues such as lane splitting, mandatory helmet use, rider training and distracted driving.

SMSA’s mission is to assist motorcycle safety programs, through collaboration and partnerships, to implement comprehensive, data-driven motorcycle safety programs and countermeasures to achieve a significant reduction in motorcycle operator traffic crashes, fatalities and injuries.
