The Omnibus Spending Bill signed by President Donald Trump in March includes funding for fighting wildfires on public lands, and will allow money appropriated for recreation programs, maintenance and infrastructure to be used for those purposes, instead of fighting fires.

Previously, those accounts had been raided
for money to fight wildfires. Under the spending bill, wildfire suppression will be treated as a natural disaster.
