Everyone knows about the nation’s big motorcycle road rallies, but there are dozens of smaller rallies throughout the nation each year that often feature a more focused or relaxed environment.

Rallies like Sturgis, Americade and Daytona Bike Week draw hundreds of thousands of riders and offer a plethora of vendors, entertainment and riding activities, but smaller rallies allow attendees to enjoy one or a few particular aspects of the motorcycling lifestyle.

E An off-road riding clinic is just one of the reasons to attend the 2020 BMW Riders Association Rally.

“AMA organizers layout some of the best rides throughout the U.S., because they are aware of the best routes in their regions,” AMA Recreational Riding Manager Heather Wilson said. “This gives AMA members the opportunity to travel near or far to encounter scenery and camaraderie they may not have found on their own.”

All road rallies bring riders together in a place where they don’t have to explain their love of riding to anyone, yet smaller rallies can make it easier to make new friends, learn more about motorcycling through seminars and bring motorcyclists to a part of the country they might never have otherwise visited.

“AMA organizers offer a variety of event types to fit different riding styles,” Wilson said. “Maybe you like guided rides or prefer self-guided rides. Perhaps you want to ride a few hours or instead, you want a whole weekend of riding. There are thousands of AMA events across the country to explore.

“As motorcyclists, we love to ride,” she said. “Sometimes it can be challenging or time-consuming to plan out routes, meals and lodging. AMA-sanctioned events lessen that stress, because we can show up to a ride and receive guidance about when and where to go for an awesome experience.”
