Long-distance riding enthusiasts and road rally regulars can start making plans to join the 2018 AMA National Gypsy Tour. This iconic series, first sanctioned by the AMA in 1924 features stops at 15 of the nation’s popular road rallies.
Originally started as a series of annual overnight motorcycle gatherings, present-day Gypsy Tour events are open to riders on all makes and model of motorcycle. Attendees get to enjoy food, entertainment, individual or group riding, and vendors at each tour event.
AMA members who attend a Gypsy Tour rally can look for the pin stop at each event to collect their 2018 Gypsy Tour pin.
For non-members who want to join the AMA National Gypsy Tour fun, the AMA has made it easier than ever. Riders can simply sign up for an AMA membership on their phone and show AMA event staff the completion screen.
Those who join the AMA at a 2018 AMA National Gypsy Tour event get free enrollment in the AMA’s LongRider mileage recognition program.
Among the popular stops on the tour are Myrtle Beach Bike Week Spring Rally, Americade in Lake George, N.Y., AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days, and the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in Sturgis, S.D.
