Greg Pecoraro, AMA director of government relations, testified May 15 in opposition to the latest proposed tariffs on European motorcycles, motorcycle parts and accessories.

The Office of the United States Trade Representative included motorcycles between 500cc and 700cc, as well as motorcycle parts and accessories on a preliminary list of goods that also includes salmon, cheese, lemons, olive oil, wine, cashmere sweaters, steins and wall clocks. The tariffs would apply to about $11 billion worth of European goods.

The USTR proposed the tariffs, which were in retaliation for European subsidies to Airbus that were put into place.

The AMA opposes the tariffs because they would do economic harm to American businesses and motorcyclists.
