Wayne National Forest Releases Plan Revision Strategy
Public Comment Period Opens
The Wayne National Forest in Ohio released its Forest Plan Revision Public Participation Strategy on June 1.
A series of August workshops is planned.
One of the key elements in the strategy is to establish a website where public meeting dates and locations will be posted. That website has not yet been established. The AMA will alert members once it is live online.
In the meantime, Wayne National Forest staff members continue to accept public comments on forest conditions, both present and hoped-for, via email at [email protected] or by U.S. mail to: Wayne National Forest, 13700 U.S. Hwy 33, Nelsonville, OH 45764.
To learn more about the strategy, search for “Wayne National Forest Plan Revision” at www.fs.usda.gov.
The AMA is encouraged that recreation is central to seven of the 15 topics the forest plan is intended to address. While any forest plan must cover environmental issues—from timber inventory to soils and animal populations, the public’s use patterns, economics and public benefits of multiple use—all speak directly to the importance of motorized recreation.
