AMERICAN MOTORCYCLIST April 2019
Idaho State Chapter Coordinator Seeks New Members
Chris Rogers To Focus On Family-Friendly Rides
Chris Rogers, the AMA Idaho State Chapter coordinator, hopes to attract more motorcyclists into the AMA and begin organizing some family-oriented activities.
“When I retired from the military and moved back to Idaho, I hung out with a couple of clubs,” Rogers said. “But I wanted more substance. So, I contacted the AMA and asked about riding clubs and found out there weren’t any.”
AMA State Chapters and Volunteer Manager Marie Wuelleh explained the AMA State Chapters program and AMA EAGLES training to Rogers. AMA EAGLES provides the knowledge, tools and resources to bolster AMA members in their efforts to promote the motorcycle lifestyle and protect the future of motorcycling.
Rogers, who has been an AMA member for three years, took AMA EAGLES training and was invited to become the state coordinator.
“I hope to bring people in,” Rogers said. “We need a group effort to make this chapter function. I would like to make it a family-friendly and community-involved group.”
He also wants to facilitate discussions of issues facing Idaho motorcyclists and work with the AMA to bring about needed change.
AMA membership includes automatic membership in the AMA State Chapter. State Chapter coordinators are volunteers who work with AMA members and the AMA staff to educate people about the organization, keep abreast of legislative and regulatory issues affecting motorcyclists and encouraging participation in AMA-sanctioned events.
