The AMA extends its sympathy and condolences to the family and friends of two-time AMA Supercross champion Brian Swink, who died unexpectedly on May 17, 2018. He was 45.

Swink grew up in Fenton, Mich., and was an up-and-coming talent in the 1980s and competed in the AMA Supercross and AMA Motocross series during the 1990s.

Swink took five wins and made nine podium appearances at the AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship at Loretta Lynn’s from 1984 to 1990 before turning pro.

Later in 1990, he competed in the AMA Motocross season. Swink made an immediate splash when he debuted in the AMA Supercross 125 East Class, winning back-to-back 125 class championships in 1991 and 1992.

In total, Swink scored 12 AMA Supercross victories, one AMA Motocross victory and a total of 24 podium appearances between the two series from 1991 to 1997.
