The Hatfield-McCoy Trail system’s newest branch opened in April in McDowell County, W.Va.

Under construction are 80 to 100 miles of new trails, John Fekete, assistant director of the Hatfield-McCoy Trail, told news outlet bdtonline.com. The trails will link the communities of War, Gary, Welch and Davy.

The new trail comes with a trailhead located near downtown War, and community leaders hope the addition will boost the local economy and create new jobs.

Fekete said the Hatfield-McCoy Trail sold about 45,000 permits in 2017, and he expects to sell 50,000 this year.
